Starcross Dons 2nd X1 1, Millwey Rise 2nd X1 4

Millwey Rise 2nd X1 travelled to Starcross boasting a strong side and came back with a win that moves them up to third place in Devon and Exeter Division Eight.

They applied a lot of early pressure on the Dons and in the 10th minute Rise took the lead through Ben Rosling returning from the first team this week.

Rise kept pressing hard and added a second through top scorer Jack Bennett who cleverly chipped the on rushing keeper to add a second for the Slopers. Although they continued to exert lots more pressure the next chance fell to Dons when their midfielder hit a rasping shot that was met by a fantastic save from Millwey's keeper, Kierran Bearpark. Josh Marlow, who is growing with every game, replicated last week's effort except this time he cut in from the left but this time his strike skimmed the bar and Millwey went in at half time 2-0 up.

The second period started a bit sloppy but they soon got a foothold in the game once again and midway in the half increased their lead through Josh Marlow who smashed in his second goal in two games.

Dons then replied with a goal of their own when they found a bit of a rhythm but in the dying minutes Jack Bennet made it four and snuffed out any hope Dons had of a comeback.

Managers Male and Morgan said there were several players worthy of mention particularly Alex Osborne at centre back who replaced Imran Chowdhury and keeper Kierran Bearpark who totally commanded his area and made three vital saves with very little to do in between. The managers ultimately chose left back Mat Hunt as man-of -the-match who impressed them with his confident performance.

The Reserves are without a game next week but on the 18th welcome Starcross to Cloakham Lawns in the reverse fixture.
