Millwey Rise 1sts 0
Farway United FC 6 If Millwey Rise were looking to build on last week's victory unfortunately this week they came up against far more formidable opponents. Farway were on the front foot from the whistle and although Rise forced the first corner, they were put under the cosh from there in. Brett Garner was kept busy in the Millwey goal, making several saves from goal-bound strikes. Farway gave due warning when in the tenth minute they hit the post and quickly followed this up with a goal. Five minutes later they went two up from a well struck free-kick. Minutes later a blow for Millwey when influential Nathan Womersley had to go off injured. He was replaced by Joe Osborne. Farway kept up their continual attack on Garner's goal but were unable to add to their score before the end of the half. The first fifteen minutes of the second period saw Rise survive a continuous Farway onslaught, but despite the valiant efforts of Nathan Hoole and Zak Meaker they scored their third after some excellent build up work. Millwey then suffered another setback when Shane Featherstone was injured. He was replaced by Imram Choudry. Farway's continual pressure led to three further goals and, but for many last ditch tackles and Garner's point blank saves, could have been even more. Millwey had little to offer going forward with Luke Thurlow ploughing a lone furrow in attack. Next week Millwey are away to Culm United (kick off 3pm)Share:
