Millwey's fun end to the season

East Budleigh 2nd X1 6 - Millwey Rise 1st X1 1

Millwey's last game of the current season gave the players the opportunity to select their names from a hat to determine what position they would play.

This resulted in a strange first half combination with keeper Nathan Hoole as striker, striker Luke Thurlow in the back four, Matt Lewis between the sticks, mid-field dynamo Zak Meaker running the line etc.

A strenghthend East Budleigh team soon found holes in the 'Rise' line-up and when the whistle went for half-time they were 6-0 to the good..

After re-adjustments at the break Millwey reverted to their more usual formation and actually won the half 1-0. East

Budleigh struggled to find the gaps that had presented themselves in the first period as Rise players found themselves in more familiar roles. The defence kept the home side at bay and the Millwey goal was a delightful inter-play which resulted in Joey Osborne side-footing the ball into the net.

Although it has not been a straightforward season for the club, it was good to see the enthusiasm of the whole team at the end of the game to be part of Millwey Rise FC. If the same spirit can be carried forward it will be a great foundation on which to build in the coming Season.

This season's Presentation Evening will be held at Cloakham Lawns on May 13..
