AFTER a scrappy start against Ilmnster Town A, Charmouth found their feet and began to build pressure and create chances in this Perry Street League Division two clash.
A series of efforts came close and in the 21st minute Ty Allen hit the top corner of the woodwork.
Charmouth began to dominate possession and more chances came but no end product. Pressure continued with a couple of corners and more shots until the 44th minute when Jack Farrant broke the deadlock, placed the ball into the bottom corner, after a great asset from Sam Dibling, to make it 1-0 to Charmouth. Although the Robins went it at 1-0 at half-time, 1-0 Ilminster looked like they could break back into the game at any time. A nervy restart for Charmuth with Ilminster getting back into the match and the defence switched off and a scuffed shot rolled through the back line to make it 1-1. Charmouth then stepped up a gear with Adzy Whitehouse hitting the bar, and then some great chasing down from debutant Ashley Williams tucked away a great goal giving Charmouth a 2-1 lead. Charmouth then finished the game off with Ashley Williams setting up Brin Seward for 3-1. Minutes later a Whitehouse crossing was met with rare Jonny Vaughan header to make it 4-1 and then, in 68th minute, Sam Dibling setup Whitehouse for 5-1. On 74 minutes the game was wrapped up with Williams provided the assister Brin Seward to complete the 6-1 scoreline. The 85th minute saw another deflected shot find the net for Ilminster. Charmouth win 6-2, 3 from 3, a brilliant start to the season seeing them top of the table and a great tribute to the club's past chairman, Steve Pratt.Share:
