Axminster Town are back in the top six of the South West Peninsular Premier East division. After a few indifferent results, they did it with a superb 5-0 away win over Plymouth Marjon.

Last season the Tigers finished in sixth place, their best ever position in the Peninsular League, and manager Dan Prettejohn challenged his squad to beat that this season.

Highlight against Marjon was a Jamie Price hat-trick with Oscar Latis and Jamie Short also getting on the scoresheet. Price, a firm lavourite with the Tiger Way crowd, is rapidly establishing himself as one of the finest players to pull on an Axminster shirt.

Man-of-the-match was the hard working Richard Hebditch who had a superb game.

On Saturday Axminster are at home to Dartmouth and three points could see them jump a place over Newton Abbot Spurs who currently have a one-point advantage but the Tigers have two games in hand.

*Axminster Town Under 13s are through to the quarter finals of the Devon County Cup after beating Newton Town Youth Reds 2-0.

*Axminster Town are operating a boot exchange box for their youth section. Parents are being urged to leave clean boots for others in a box at the entrance to the clubhouse in Tiger Way.
