Axminster Reserves opened up a two-point lead at the top of the Devon and Exeter league Division Two East with a 4-2 away win over Ottery St Mary 2nds on Saturday.

The Tigers, who fell behind to a stunning free-kick , struggled to get the ball moving early in the game.

But Dan Scadden equalised making it 1-1 at half-time.

Axe looked a different side in the second half dominating play, and further goals from Scadden, Jamie Girton and Tom Edwards put them well in control although they suffered a number of injuries.

A late consolation goal goal from Ottery rather flattered the scoreline but manager Dan Prettejohn was pleased with the overall performance.

The Tigers meet second placed Sidmouth Town 3rds at Tiger Way one Thursday (October 8th), kick-off 7.30 pm.
