C DIVISION EAST

UPLYME and Lyme Regis collected only nine points from their Devon Cricket League C Division East fixture despite posting 223 runs after winning the toss and choosing to bat at Teignmouth and Sheldon.

Opener Andrew Harrison (81) and No 3 Joe Elsworth (51) gave Uplyme a good start and with 148 runs on the board with just one wicket down they looked to be heading for a healthy total. Tyler Wellman added 29 but the home attack kept things tight but none of the lower order made any significant contribution.

In reply, the home side struggled for runs early on and at 157-7 it looked as though Uplyme were on their way to victory but Teigmouth held out for a winning score of 227-8.

Uplyme's bowling soils were shared by Lahiru Abeywickrama, Tyler Wellman and Preston Hills.

Teignmouth and Shaldon 17 points, Uplyme and Lyme Regis 9 points

Nathan Copp with an unbeaten 40 made his presence felt and Rob Hutchings (31) and Richard Pyman (28) added useful runs.
