A DIVISION

Seaton's fight to stay in Division A received another set-back after suffering another heaving defeat.

Seaton won the toss at home Plympton with the visitors being put into bat, but it turned out to be a frustrating afternoon for the home bowlers who were subjected to a battering all afternoon with Plympton running up a score of 346-6, thanks to two centuries by opener Elliott Hamilton (123) and No 5 Jonty Walliker (93 not out).

Roul East was the only Seaton bowler to cause any real damage, taking three wickets for the loss of 55 runs in seven overs.

Chasing 343 runs was never on the cards for Seaton and they were bowled out for 158 runs off 45 overs to lose by 185 runs.

Seaton will probably have to win both of their remaining game to sneak above Tavistock to retain their A Division status next season.

Seaton 6 points, Plympton 2- points.

B DIVISION

Kilmington strengthened their case for promotion to Division A with a maximum points victory at home against Dartington and Totnes.

Dartington won the toss and elected the bat, setting a target of 148 all out in 43 overs. Top bowler for Kilmington was Oliver Reed who finished with 4 for 23 in 8 overs.

Kilmington had little problem in reaching a winning score with top scorer Tim Boniface (47) and opener Tom Gooding (36) paving the way.

Kilmington look capable of keeping their second place to win promotion behind Thorverton who lead their nearest rivals by 27 points.

Kilmington 20 points, Dartington and Totnes 5 points.

D DIVISION D

No local games in this division. Chardstock's home match with Barnstaple and Pilton was cancelled and Uplyme and Lyme Regis' home tie with leaders Alphington and Countess Wear, a game that could have decided who finishes as champions, was called off due to a COVID scare.

Uplyme now need a maximum of 19 points from their last two games to win promotion to Division B and they still have a chance of finishing as champions.

E DIVISION EAST

Axminster Town are almost certain to be relegated, having suffered their 11th defeat at home to Budleigh Salterton 2nd X1.

Budleigh won the toss, put Axminster into bat and bowled them out for 138 in 34 overs. Opener Andrew Guppy gave Axe a good start with 43 and skipper Paul Miller hit a half century before being caught and bowled.

Budeigh lost five wickets in reaching their victory total with Alex Wraight producing Axminster's best bowling figures of 3 for 23 off nine overs.

Axminster Town 5 points, Budleigh Salterton 20 points.

F DIVISION EAST

It's tight at the bottom of the division with only ten runs separating Whimple, Honiton 2nds and Seaton 2nds. Seaton are occupying bottom spot with the poorer average, a situation which was not helped by gaining just four points away to Upottery.

The home side won the toss and decided to field with Seaton getting off to a decent start with nearly 50 runs on the board before losing a wicket. Number 7 Bobby Dormer contributed a useful 44 but they were all out in the 39th over for 157.

Upottery only lost two wickets in securing maximum points. Opener Matthew Button-Stephens carried his bat for 80 runs with Jack Smith (34) and Adam Retter (30) making good contributions before losing their wickets.

Upottery 20 points, Seaton 2 X1 4 points.

G DIVISION EAST

Chasing 232, Kilmington 2nd X1 struggled for runs away to Countess Wear 2nds and were sent backing for 103.

Kilmington's runs mainly came from the middle order with Ashley Cook (18), Eddie Clarke (14) and James Lambert (23) putting up mild resistance after opener Dave Cook went for 16.

Alphington and Countess Wear 2nd X1 20 points, Kilmington 2nd X1 4 points.

H DIVISION EAST

Axminster Town 2n X1's game away to Sandford was cancelled.
