The Jones family with their prize delivery of fresh local food

A group of East Devon farmers and food producers have come together under the banner 'In My Back Yard' to provide fresh food and other local produce direct to the doors of customers.

Vegetable grower Erin Evans explained the scheme: "In an effort to replace sales to restaurants, cafes, B&Bs and others during the COVID-19 pandemic we have been providing a service for customers to order online since April.

Complaints over loud music led police to break up an open-air party in Hawkchurch on the night of Friday, July 31st.

Officers said attempts to negotiate with organisers prior to and at the start of the event failed to prevent the music being halted and it was declared an unlicensed gathering under section 63 0f the Public Order Act.

East Devon residents are being asked to ensure information that appears on the electoral register is correct.

Households will soon be receiving a form asking residents to check whether the information that appears on the electoral register for those living at the address is correct, as part of East Devon's annual voter registration canvass.

As part of the Government's COVID-19 recovery plans, East Devon District Council is now able to issue temporary pavement licenses to enable pubs, restaurants and other hospitality venues to increase the availability of seating and tables outside their venues.

Licensing laws have recently been relaxed by the government as part of the Business and Planning Act, which came into effect on July 22.

Three-times Axminster mayor and Honorary Devon Alderman Douglas Hull who did so much for the people of Axminster in 50 years service as a councillor

Plans are afoot to establish a memorial garden in Axminster to honour the memory of Douglas Hull, the father of Axminster Town Council, and three times mayor, who died in May after 50 years of service.

Discussions are taking place between Axminster Town Council and former mayor Paul Hayward, who is now deputy leader and portfolio holder for economy and assets at East Devon District Council
