The popularity of Axminster Nub News, with readers in many places worldwide, is helping to reunite old friends, some of whom are feeling "homesick".
One of the town's most respected citizens, Andrew Moulding, is writing a regular article in Nub News called 'Moulding's Memories' in which he recalls his days growing up in Axminster in the 1950s.
The Department for Education has produced school transport guidelines as it prepares for a full return of students in September, and Devon County Council has been working with schools, colleges and transport operators to plan for this return.
Social distancing guidance, which applies to passengers on public transport, will not apply on dedicated school transport which is not open to the general public.

I have just crossed the top of Castle Street from the Axe Vale Creamery Dairy and straight into W J Harris & Son grocer and baker of Trinity Square. The business had been running from the late 19t century and dear old Joe Harris (a small man with pointed features and a pristine white apron) was in charge.
I believe Joe was grandson of the original proprietor and the family business was continued by Joe's son Ted, another stalwart of the town who only passed away a short while ago at a ripe old age. Harris's was renowned for good quality local produce and baking on the premises. I seem to remember that there was a café on the first floor and a distinctive smell of ground coffee.

Wake Night Support Worker
Axminster Heritage Centre will be offering free entry to all local residents this Saturday (August 29).
Residents with a EX13 post code are invited to visit the centre and explore the history of Axminster and its surrounding area, from prehistoric times to the present day.
Devon residents and businesses are being encouraged to sign up for the fifth Cycle September.
So far, more than 1,450 new riders have been encouraged to take up cycling by signing up to the scheme and over 6.7 million miles have been clocked up by 7,254 riders since Cycle September first took place.
