COVID-19 cases across Devon and Cornwall have fallen by a third for the second week in a row, with declines in all areas.

A total of 1,547 new cases were confirmed across the two counties in the last week, wit the total for the two counties now standing at 42,935 – the lowest total for seven weeks.

More than 200,000 people in Devon have had their first COVID-19 vaccine, the highest figure in the South West, latest NHS England statistics show.

The figures, which provide the position as of January 31, show that there had been 217,344 vaccinations in the county, with 204,815 of them being the first dose.

The 2021 local elections will go ahead as planned, the government has confirmed.

A 70-year-old man from Axminster is due to appear in court in connection with a serious injury crash near Bridport in November.

The crash happened at about 9.40am on Sunday, November 15 on the B3157 Coast Road, near to the junction of Cogden Beach car park. It involved a Citroen Berlingo and a Ford Focus.
