The Axe Vale Swimming Association, the charity which runs the Flamingo Pool in Axminster, is expecting COVID-19 to have had a "radical effect" on its financial position, members were told at their annual meeting this week.

The year 2019-2020 ended in a small profit, which was described as a "brilliant result" by chairman Richard Peacock, after suffering losses for the previous two years.

One more coronavirus-related death has been reported in Axminster, bringing the total for the period from March 2020 to 19.

Figures from the Office of National Statistics were updated this week to include death figures by local area for February, showing one person in the Axminster area had died following a positive coronavirus test.

It is hoped pedestrian safety can be improved on a section of the B3165 through Uplyme where there is currently no footpath

Uplyme parish councillors are hopeful that proposals to improve pedestrian safety in the village may come to fruition over the next year.

The Uplyme Neighbourhood Plan contains the aspiration to improve safety on the narrow stretch of the B3165, near the junction with Crogg Lane, by providing a footway.
