Every adult in Devon is now being encouraged to take a rapid, lateral flow test for coronavirus twice a week, and now they can do so in a variety of ways, including through a mobile testing unit in Axminster.

As well as the testing unit in the West Street car park, testing will also be available at workplaces, pharmacies or via home delivery.

Whilst a bit of a cultural shock, moving to East End with an office in Dagenham had its benefits, especially for someone who was mad on football.

Axminster Musical Theatre recently held its annual general meeting in a new format for the first time since 1926.

The meeting was held by Zoom video conferencing and went exceptionally well with over 25 participants tuning in to hear all the latest news and to see fellow performers for the first time for months.

A pub near Honiton has been at the centre of a major fire response this afternoon (April 4) after the thatched roof caught fire.

It took a total of 17 fire crews to bring the blaze at The White Hart in Wilmington under control, with the incident ongoing.

Im sure our favourite visitor was Sam Enticott, the 'fruit and veg man' who also had a shop in South Street. We all thought Sam was a lovely gentleman – "always so cheerful and kind," as my mother would say.

Elections for Devon County Council and the Devon & Cornwall Police & Crime Commissioner will be held on May 2 2021.

Registered electors will be able to vote in person at a polling station, by postal vote or by proxy at the elections on Thursday, 6 May, although there will be some changes to protect voters from coronavirus.

CARPENTER, KATHLEEN - Kathleen 'Kath' passed away peacefully at her home in Axminster on March 13 2021, aged 90 years. A much loved and greatly missed mum, grandma and great-grandma.

We have just left the village of Uplyme and are heading towards YAWL, where we built an extension to a property in Yawl Hill Lane. Further up the hill, just before we reach Hunters Lodge, we built a lovely Granny Annexe on a property opposite Hedgehog Corner.

In HARCOMBE we carried out a number of contracts for Miss Joan Sharp, who was our lovely matron for many years at Axminster Hospital. I remember my father telling me a story about one of the matrons at Axminster Hospital – I'm not sure if it was Miss Sharp, or maybe Matron Grant?
