With Guy Fawkes' Night fast approaching, here's a roundup of events taking place in the Axminster area.

While there will be no official fireworks display in Axminster itself, there are plenty of celebrations to enjoy nearby.

Peace Memorial Playing Field, Colyton

Neighbouring Colyton will be hosting a fireworks display on Saturday, November 5 at the Peace Memorial Playing Field off Coly Road.

Gates open at 6pm, following by a pumpkin decorating competition and live music from Mojo kicking off at 6.30pm.

A bonfire will be lit at 7pm and the fireworks will be held at 7.30pm.

There will also be a barbecue, bar and cold drinks available throughout. Entry costs £5 for adults, £1 for children under 16 (must be accompanied by an adult) and is free for under 5s.

Branoc Hall, Branscombe

The village of Branscombe will host its Guy Fawkes celebrations on Saturday, November 5 at Branoc Hall, with the bar open from 5.30pm, food served inside from 5.45pm and music from Rob Summers Disco.

A bonfire will be list at 6.30pm and the fireworks will be held at 7pm.

This is a free event but relies on donations to ensure it can go ahead in future years. There is, however, a charge for food of £7.40 per adult or £4.50 per child to include a choice of main dishes and two sides, followed by dessert.

Lyme Regis Beach

Lyme Regis harbour offers the perfect setting for an explosion of light and colour with the skies above the seafront set to be illuminated on Saturday, November 5.

Watch from Langmoor and Lister Gardens or anywhere along the seafront near the sandy beach. The fireworks start at 6.30pm followed by the lighting of the bonfire on the sandy beach.

The display is free of charge with a collection made to fund future displays, so please bring some cash and place into one of the official collecting buckets on the night. You can also donate online at lymeregiscarnival.co.uk/donateonline

Exmouth Rugby Football Club

Raising funds for Exmouth lifeboat station, the rugby club will host East Devon's largest fireworks display on Friday, November 4 with gates opening at 5.30pm and last entry at 7.15pm.

Food stalls and a bar will be available. Tickets cost £5 and under 3s go free, available from eventbrite.co.uk or on the gate. Under 14s must be accompanied by an adult and no dogs are allowed.

Westpoint, Exeter

Exeter Round Table will be hosting their fireworks display on Saturday, November 5 at Westpoint.

A celebration of the life of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, fireworks by Sonic – the British Champions – will be set to favourite classics hosted by Radio Exe.

There will also be funfair rides, catering outlets and a bar. Gates open at 5.30pm with last entry at 7pm for the fireworks at 7.20pm.
