Emergency services were called to Trafalgar Way in Axminster following a road traffic accident this evening (Thursday).

The B3261 was closed in both directions following the crash.

Fire crews from Axminster and Charmouth, co-responders, the ambulance service and police were called to the scene.

On arrival, fire crews immediately stabilised a vehicle while co-responders gave re-assurance and first aid to a male trapped within one vehicle.

They then assisted the ambulance service in safely extricating the casualty so he could be conveyed to hospital by land ambulance.

A second male from the second vehicle was free and clear from the vehicles on arrival at the scene.

In the last update given at 8.15pm the road remained closed.
