The community literary event partnership between the Archway Bookshop and the Community Waffle House is set to welcome its first high profile adult fiction author to Axminster.

International bestseller Alice Feeney, who lives in Devon, will be interviewed by Archway's Tim Pritchard at the Community Waffle House on Saturday, April 15 from 7pm.

"Our evening with Alice promises to be a thoroughly stimulating one given her massive achievement in turning her writing dream into a reality," said Archway owner Simon Holmes.

"Like so many aspiring authors, she scribbled in every available moment but suffered ten years of publisher rejections."

For Alice, the writing moments were around her job as a BBC producer for the One O'Clock News. Her first book, Sometimes I Lie, was penned in part on the train on the way to work from her home here in Devon.

She took the Faber Academy writing course, finishing the book and course at about the same time.

Sometimes I Lie was published to huge acclaim in 2017. In 2019, Fox bought the television rights. Since then, Alice has published four further mystery thrillers including His & Hers, for which the TV rights have also been snapped up.

Her latest - now in paperback from Pan Macmillan - is Daisy Darker, an all-consuming tale of psychological suspense with a spectacular twist. Another book is in the wings for publication in August.

The event price is £5, but if you buy the book from Archway in advance for £8.99 the event is included.

You can book at the shop by calling 01297 33744 or online at www.archwaybookshop.co.uk
