A bakery manager's sponsored walk around Lyme Regis has raised more than £750 for local charity Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.

Lizzie Reynolds, manager at The Cornish Bakery in Broad Street, Lyme Regis, completed the 20-mile sponsored walk on Monday dressed as a Cornish pasty.

She actually went a few miles further than planned, and ended up walking a marathon distance of 26.5 miles, completing a loop through the town centre and along the seafront several times.

Lizzie said: "I loved completing the walk – I got to the 20 mile mark which I had set as the target but decided that 26.2 miles marathon distance sounded better so I went for it. The last four miles hurt though!

"The support throughout the day got me through – the volunteers and team at Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support were amazing and so involved, and I was lucky to be joined by my friend and ex-colleague Annette Bartlett, my mum (and designer/creator of the pasty costume) Denise Reynolds, and my area manager Jackie Masters for part of the walk to cheer me on!

"Everyone was so nice as I walked round, but special shout-outs to Baboo Gelato for the free ice creams on route, Lyme Regis trampolines on the beach for letting me have a go as a bouncing pasty, and a lovely gentleman in the Harbour Inn for buying me the tastiest pint of cider when I had finished!"

Lizzie has so far raised more than £750 for Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support but donations can still be made online at https://localgiving.org/fundraising/cornishbakerylymeregiswalk/
