Armed police officers and a helicopter attended reports of a suspected armed person in a village near Axminster last night (Tuesday).

Police have not confirmed the exact location of the incident, but it is understood to have taken place in Kilmington according to unofficial reports on social media.

Officers were called to the scene at 7.30pm last night.

A person was detained by police and is currently in police custody awaiting questioning. Police are not currently able to release any further information on this incident.
