Celebrations for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee officially get underway today (Thursday).

We'll be bringing you daily updates with a list of what's on in the Axminster area every morning over the four-day Bank Holiday weekend, and look out for our round-up of the day's events in the evenings.

Today, celebrations get started in Axminster with the official opening of Jubilee Field, ownership of which has recently been handed to Axminster Town Council from East Devon District Council.

All are welcome to attend from 11am. There will be ice cream for all guests and the council will be unveiling its jubilee plaque in recognition of the Queen's 70 years on the throne and the acquisition of this community space.

The opening will be followed by a free Jubilee Lunch at Axminster Guildhall at 12noon, organised by local charity Nourish.

An early evening of classic and folk music will be provided by Jim Causley and Peter Burns at The Guildhall from 4pm. Tickets for this cost £20 with all proceeds going to help those in Ukraine – click here to book.

The Nub News team will be attending as many Platinum Jubilee events as possible over the four-day weekend, but unfortunately we cannot get to everything. Please send your jubilee photos to [email protected] for inclusion in our jubilee coverage!
