Axminster events to celebrate the coronation of King Charles III and the Queen Consort Camilla will include a civic church service and community picnic.
All are welcome to attend the civic service to be held at St Mary the Virgin (Minster Church), in Axminster, to celebrate the coronation weekend at 11am on Sunday, May 7.
The service will be given by the Reverend Clive Sedgwick and will be attended by local dignitaries, charities and group representatives.
Refreshments will be served following the service, allowing time to mingle and celebrate the historic occasion.
Outside the church, and in readiness for the afternoon's community picnic, there will be coronation themed 'head in the hole' boards.
These are currently being prepared by Axminster Community Shed, who were kindly donated plywood by Bradfords Axminster. If anyone would like to help the 'Shedders' in creating the themed boards, please contact Colin Hayward at the Community Shed in Chard Road.
The community coronation picnic will then be held on the Minister Green – or in the Guildhall in the event of poor weather – from 3pm to 6pm, organised by the Rotary Club of Axminster.
There will be many activities for families and children, including music and entertainment, the Karizma Majorettes, Punch and Judy, a treasure hunt and much more.
Local schools are taking part in a portrait competition of King Charles III and the prizewinnng entries will be on display in the Minster Church.
Bring along your friends, family and your own picnic to celebrate this historic occasion with the Axminster community.
