Police are appealing for information about a fatal collision near Axminster

Police investigating a fatal road traffic collision on the A358 outside Axminster yesterday (Wednesday) afternoon are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.

Police officers were called to reports of a collision involving a Range Rover and a motorcycle on the A358 Chard Road, Axminster, at the junction with South Common Road, at 8.44am.

The rider of the motorcycle, a 31-year-old man from the Axminster area, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. His next of king have been informed.

The driver of the car was uninjured, and his front seat passenger sustained light injuries.

Police closed the road to conduct an examination of the scene. It was reopened at around 4.30pm.

Officers would like to thank the members of the public for their patience and consideration while the investigation took place.
