Millwey Rise vandals condemned as 'mindless'
Vandals who have targeted the Millwey Rise Football Club dug-outs at the Cloakham Lawn sports centre in Axminster have been condemned by club officials as "mindless".
Club captain Haydyn Lewis revealed on social meeting that the dug-outs had been damaged on Wednesday evening when a group of youths were seen hanging around the area.
He said: "Times are hard enough at the moment as it is to financially run a amateur, grassroots football club.
"A large group of youngsters were seen in the area. Parents, if your kids were out in the area, have a word will you? We are checking CCTV.
"Any information could be useful so give me or the chairman Simon Flint a message. We are fuming."
Axminster county and district councillor Ian Hall, a former Millwey Rise player and official, has also condemned the vandalism.
He told Nub News: "I am incredibly disappointed that, yet again, all the hard work put in by Millwey Rise FC, for the benefit of our community, has been undermined by a mindless minority.
"We have had several issues in the area lately and we, as a community, will not tolerate this kind of behaviour."
Cllr Hall advised anyone had any information to contact police on 101.
