After many years of planning, the Mayor of Axminster, Cllr Jill Farrow, broke the ground - and drove the dumper truck - at the new Cloakham Lawns, signalling the start of the build process that will deliver a state-of-the-art skate, bike and scooter amenity for all residents and visitors to enjoy.

The Mayor, complete in full regalia, was watched by members of the Skatepark Committee, fellow town councillors, district councillors and representatives from Maverick, the design and build company carrying out the work.

A number of keen skateboarders and some younger citizens eager to have a go on the new public amenity which will undoubtedly be a great attraction for skate/bike enthusiasts of Axminster and district.

The site works are expected to take a few months to complete, and the town council is working hard with other stakeholders to provide the associated services to make this the top attraction of its kind in the area.
