Local charity promotes men's health at Axminster 'Blokes Brunch'
Axminster GP Dr Nick Hodges presented a talk on men's health issues at a 'Blokes Brunch' held at The George Hotel.
About 20 men attended the event, arranged by local charity Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.
The talk covered a range of areas and topics, from prostate cancer, symptoms, tests and treatments, mental health issues and how to access treatment and information on new treatments for obesity.
The 'Blokes Brunch' was organised as part of Axminster and Lyme Regis Cancer Support's education programme.
Men sometimes find it difficult to access health information and the 'Blokes Brunch' is an open event bringing a group of men together, over a free breakfast, to listen to and be able to raise queries with a local GP.
Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support holds four of these events a year, alternating venues between Lyme Regis and Axminster, and a number of other educational events. The charity is holding a skin awareness event in the summer.
Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support exists to provide help and support to anyone affected by any cancer. If anyone wants to access support or contribute directly, details of services offered and how to contact the charity are on its website www.axminsterandlymecancersupport.co.uk
