Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support are continuing to support those who have ben diagnosed or affected by cancer, but in slightly different ways during the COVID-19 pandemic.
With more routine check-ups and appointments now being held again, more are being diagnosed with cancer but the local charity it here to help anyone seeking help, advice or support during these uncertain times.
The charity offers free services to anyone affected by cancer. These include online or telephone counselling sessions and coaching, online yoga and tripudio classes and Nordic walking.
The Mary Anning beach hut - named after the famous fossil hunter who died of breast cancer - is now open on Lyme Regis seafront for the exclusive use of those affected by cancer and their families.
The hut was today (Monday) named as 'Beach Hut of the Year' by Ryan's Beach Hut Insurance, winning £300, one year's free insurance, a luxury hamper and a beach hut plaque.
The charity also holds weekly drop-in sessions via video conferencing app Zoom, and can provide art kits, jigsaws, magazines, puzzle books or loan books from its comprehensive library.
Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support now also has an online shop selling cards, key-rings and CDs with free local delivery. They soon plan to add postcard to the collection and, later in the year, its own recipe book.
