Indie rock band Turin Brakes coming to Axminster Guildhall
I am sure that, by now, you are well aware of some of the very exciting acts that are coming soon to the Axminster Guildhall.
There is so much buzz around town about Dom Joly, Omid Djalili, Gary Delany, Francis Rossi and Paul Young . However, there is another little diamond in our schedule, that may have just missed your eye!
Turin Brakes are an indie rock band, composed of Olly Knights, Gale Paridjanian, Rob Allum and Eddie Myer, that formed in 1999. Since then they have racked up an impressive seven top 40 singles, seven top 40 albums and over a million record sales worldwide, including the stunning song 'Pain Killer (Summer Rain)', which reached number 5 in 2003.
Now, 23 years after they first formed, Turin Brakes are about to release their ninth studio album - 'Wide-Eyed Nowhere' on September 16.
This new, highly anticipated album was recorded at Twin Palms Garden Studio, over the summer of 2021, with the band choosing to take their time, letting the music infuse and mature in it's own way,
"We surprised ourselves with what came out; a sweeter, groovier set of songs in no hurry to be anything but themselves!" the band commented.
"Friends would visit, kids would add a voice or two, bees would buzz and we'd get to sit in the South London sun while the music poured out of the speakers and floated across the lawn.
"Sometimes we decide it's okay to just let it happen naturally, not to try too hard - just get out of the way, let the songs take shape, and that maybe you don't have to be in a bad place to make the deeper cuts."
It's this attitude to music writing that saw their 2001 album 'Optimist LP' nominated for a Mercury Prize, so expectations are huge to see what the boys have come up with this time.
To celebrate the release of the new album, Turin Brakes are playing a handful of festivals over the summer, which will then be followed by an extensive UK concert tour from September.
Their tours have been described as "something magical" with real interactions between the band and audience and now you can judge for yourself as Turin Brakes join us here at the Axminster Guildhall, for one night only, on Thursday, November 24 November.
Tickets are available at only £26.50 at www.axminster-guildhall.co.uk
