Hawkchurch residents of all ages got together on Saturday night to celebrate the 100th anniversary of their village hall.

With the foundation stone laid by Mrs Greenshields in 1922, the village hall opened on the site formerly known as the Old Barn in 1923.

Donations towards ints construction were made by the WI, the Girls'Friendly Society and the Boy Scouts, among others, and individual donations were made by residents.

After the laying of the foundation stone, villagers enjoyed a fair which also raised funds for the project.

The small hall was later extended in the mid-1970s and villagers have enjoyed celebrations and events of all kind at the community venue.

They got together for a bring and share supper with live music on Saturday night, where old photos of the hall were displayed, as well as pictures drawn by children from Hawkchurch Primary School to celebrate the 100th anniversary.
