Former River Cottage chef to host one-off lunch at wildflower farm
Former River Cottage head chef Gill Meller will be hosting a one-off lunch as part of a series of pop-up dining events being held at a wildflower farm in Stockland.
Gideon Hitchin, who previously ran The Giant Club in Axminster, has been hosting successful pop-up dining events at Goren Farm this month, with guests enjoying six courses of hyperlocal food paired with drinks.
As a special addition to Gideon's dates, local celebrity chef and award-winning author Gill Meller will be hosting a one-off 'long lunch' at the farm.
Gill first stepped into the public eye as Hugh Fearnley Whittingstall's head chef and co-presenter on his hugely popular 'River Cottage' television series.
During his time with Hugh, Gill helped to shape the trademark 'nose to tail' style of food, which has been so inspiring to chefs in the last two decades.
Since leaving Hugh's kitchen, Gill has written three cookbooks of his own which have garnered praise from the likes of Nigella Lawson, Diana Henry and Mr Fearnley Whittingstall himself.
His first book, 'Gather', won the Fortnum & Mason Cookbook of the Year Award and his second book, 'Time', was nominated for the highly prestigious Guild of Food Writers Best Cookbook Award.
As well as writing award-winning cookery books, Gill is known for his natural style of cooking which often involves fire, something he has also written a book about.
He teaches on specialist cookery courses all over the country and beyond, even travelling to the coast of Norway to cook with fellow celebrity chefs Mark Hix and Valentine Warner for their Kitchen on the Edge of the World project.
This is a rare opportunity to experience lunch cooked right in front of your eyes by one of Britain's food heroes.
Gill Meller cooks at 'Breathe at Goren Farm' on Sunday, June 27 and limited tickets are available at www.giantclub.co.uk
