A teenager from Axminster will be chopping off her long locks on her 18th birthday to raise funds for local mental health and counselling charity Arc.

Fleur Mitchell, a sixth form student from the Woodroffe School in Lyme Regis, will shortly be turning 18, but with the country under lockdown there will be no big party or first legal drink in the pub.

Instead, Fleur has taken a daring decision and is trusting her dad to cut off her long hair in a charity head shave to raise funds for Arc, which provides easily-accessible, fexible counselling and psychotherapy for the Axminster community.

Fleur said: "I have had long hair for as long as I can remember and turning 18 is a good time for a change.

"Arc has helped somebody I know, especially during lockdown, and I want to give something back to this exceptional and unique mental health charity for all they have done."

Fleur is hoping to raise £180 for the charity and you can make a donation via her JustGiving page.
