East Devon District Council has asked residents to continue recycling amid collection delays – and also to consider where they park to ensure they do not cause an obstruction to waste and recycling lorries.

Recycling collections have been delayed in some areas of the district for several weeks due to staff shortages.

In their latest update, east Devon District Council said: "Please keep recycling! We acknowledge and apologise for the inconvenience the disruptive recycling collections are causing, however despite this we encourage you all to continue to recycle as much material as possible.

"Thank you for your patience and for being amazing recyclers!"

The council is encouraging residents to download the East Devon app for the latest updates on waste and recycling collections.

Some waste and recycling collections have been further held up by obstructive parking.

The council commented: "Our recycling/refuse crews have encountered vehicle access problems in some roads due to parked cars.

"Please be mindful of this when parking on a collection day, so we can keep this essential service operating during this difficult time. Thank you."
