A defibrillator has been installed at Trinity House in memory of the late Mayor of Axminster, Anni Young.

The defibrillator, which can be used by the public in the event of a medical emergency such as a heart attack, has been installed in the entrance of the Community Waffle House in the recently revamped Trinity House.

A plaque alongside it reads: "This defibrillator is dedicated to the memory of Anni Young 1960 - 2020, Mayor of Axminster in recognition of her services to the community over many years."

Axminster was left shocked and saddened when serving mayor Anni died unexpectedly in her sleep just before Christmas.

Axminster Town Council agreed that the installation of a defibrillator at the Community Waffle House - a venture which Anni very much supported - would be a fitting tribute.

The suggestion was made by district councillor Paul Hayward, who commented on social media this week: "A fitting tribute to her love of people, her community and her kindness of spirit. Always in our hearts."

The council have also been discussion revamping an area of overgrown land near Axminster train station in memory of Anni.
