A group set up to provide Axminster residents with support during the coronavirus pandemic has suspended its operations.

Axminster Community Emergency Response (ACER) has suspended its voluntary work as residents try and get back to a normal way of life.

Spokesman Steve Holt said the organisation had been put into hibernation and could be resurrected should the need arise.

Since launching in March, ACER volunteers have delivered more than 1,500 prescriptions to local residents, and carried out more than 350 essential shopping trips as well as providing hundreds of food parcels.
