A total of 10 coronavirus-related deaths were recorded in Axminster between March and November, according to new figures released by the Office of National Statistics.

Three COVID-19 related deaths were recorded in Axminster in April and seven in May, comparing to a total of 78 deaths related to other causes over the nine-month period.

The figures also show 12 COVID-related deaths recorded in Seaton, four in Honiton and zero in the Kilmington, Colyton and Uplyme area.

A total of 14,691 deaths across Devon, Cornwall and the Isles of Scilly were registered in the nine month period, with 647 of them having COVID-19 mentioned on the death certificate as the main cause of death.

Some of the 14,044 deaths 'due to other causes' included deaths where the underlying cause was not COVID-19, but that COVID-19 was mentioned on the death certificate as a contributory cause of death.

It means that 4.4% of all deaths in Devon and Cornwall in that nine month period were because of COVID-19.

Across the two counties, the figures show there were 15 deaths in March, 345 in April, 140 in May, 18 in June, four in both July and August, six in September, 28 in October and 87 in November.
