Christmas comes early (or late!) at Axminster Guildhall

For years now, scientists have been saying that our seasons are out of line, and they really would have thought that this was the case if they visited the Guildhall last week as we had Father Christmas, a snowman, gingerbread man and reindeer outside to greet them; a Christmas tree in full display and a blizzard of snow.

No, we didn't have a bit of a "moment", we were just helping Axminster Drama Club's audience get into the mood for their latest production 'Nativity! The Musical', which had to be postponed from December 2021.

Bearing in mind that we have just had Christmas at the Guildhall, it seems a perfect time to reveal our fantastic plans for Halloween 2022.

This year we have got something special for Axminster and it all starts on October 28 with an evening of comedy from the multi-award-winning comedian Omid Djalili (him off the telly!) – tickets available at £25 per person.

We then follow this up on October 29 with an 80s Music Extravaganza Party Night (over 18s only), hosted by Jena and all under the fun glow of UV Lighting!

So, grab those leg warmers, tuck in the shoulder pads and use a can of hairspray or two. Tickets are available at £18 per person.

Don't worry, we haven't forgotten the kids; the next day on October 30, Jena will return to the Guildhall (with her UV Lighting) to hold a Glow Experience UV Halloween Party for all your little monsters.

This promises to be a Sunday packed full of fun and activities as the kids get to create glow in the dark arts and crafts, compete in competitions, play games and even have their own UV Disco. Tickets are available at £15 per child and £10 per adult.

Then comes the night itself, All Hallows Eve! We have you covered here too. On Halloween the Guildhall will be throwing open its doors to welcome in all the mini werewolves, witches, ghosts and superheroes to our very own Trick or Treat Evening, with sweets and some spooky surprises.

We are offering this as a free community event and somewhere that parents can bring their children to Trick or Treat, with the knowledge that they are safe within the Guildhall.

We also hope that this event will give some comfort to those residents who may not appreciate their door being knocked on at Halloween.

You would think that was enough but, oh no, still with the Christmas spirit of giving coursing through our veins, we have one more treat as Gary Delany (another him off the telly) joins us for another evening of comedy on November 3, to help round off our fantastic, and very busy Halloween programme of events. Tickets are available at £20 per person.

We really hope you will find something to get your fangs into from our Halloween Goodie Bag, and if you would like any more information on any of these events, then please check out our website at axminster-guildhall.co.uk

In the meantime, please don't forget that we also have some great treats for April including and Indoor Easter Market on April 10, Giggle at the Guildhall on April 12 (remember three months for £15 offer ends on this day), Keeping Bad Company on April 22 and 'December 63 – Oh What a Night' (formerly the New Jersey Boys) on the April 30.
