Axminster town crier Nick Goodwin is appealing to residents and local organisations to help him raise funds for new regalia.

Nick provided his own uniform when he was first appointed as Axminster's town crier in 2007 and the regalia has served him, and the town, well.

But, time takes its toll and Nick is now hoping for something smarter, more practical and in keeping with the town's rich and colourful heritage.

He has already been granted £1,000 from Axminster Town Council towards his new uniform, and is now looking to the local community to help him raise a further £1,000.

He hopes the new uniform can be made by the town crier of Bognor Regis, who also specialises in making regalia for other town criers, in time for a busy season on events which will include the Queen's Platinum Jubilee celebrations.
