Local News by Francesca Evans 23rd Sep 2021

Axminster Town Conncil has apologised to residents after an accident resulted in a power cut in the North Street area on Wednesday.

A statement from the Mayor of Axminster, Cllr Jill Farrow, said: "In respect of the power outage around North Street in the afternoon and evening of September 22, Axminster Town Council is very sorry for the serious inconvenience this has caused.

"Our member of staff was dealing with a health and safety issue when the apparent accident with cabling occurred.

"We will be looking into lessons which can be learned."

Cllr Farrow added that, thankfully, no one was injured in the accident and that the council was in discussion with Western Power about the incident.
