Axminster teaching colleagues Ellis Holt and Leigh Conley have put lockdown to good use by publishing the first in series of 'Monster' books.

Their first 'Mischievous Monster' book – 'Peter The Sock-Eater', printed by Axminster Printing Company, is already selling well on Amazon at £5.99 and can be purchased for the special price of £4.99 during lockdown.

The idea came from Leigh, who is a teaching assistant at Axminster Community Primary School, and was developed as a commercial proposition with Ellis Holt, a Forest School peripatetic teacher who lives in Chard. The books are being illustrated by a friend, Peter Kimball-Evans.

Leigh is well known in Axminster and as chairman of Axminster Drama Club has appeared on the local stage a number of times.

Two more 'Mischievous Monster' tales are currently in the pipeline – 'Xander The Puddle-Jumper' and 'Piper The Pencil-Blunter'.

Each of the books tell a fun, humourous tale of an individual monster, the troubles they have to deal with and the friends they meet.

Every page has bright, bold illustrations and fun language to keep lids laughing throughout.

There are a number of ways the children can interact with the storylines which can assist home learning whilst children are being schooled at home.
