Axminster restaurant Ric's Kitchen hoping for local support as it reopens

Popular Axminster eatery Ric's Kitchen has reopened after six months.

The restaurant initially opened in October 2020 in the former premises of Hooper's Cafe in Victoria Place, but despite proving a hit with customers, it closed down in July 2021 due to the cost of living crisis.

Chef and owner Ric Edgell has spent the past six months working in kitchens of other local hospitality businesses, but has now decided to give things another go and reopened this week.

The reopening has been met with a great reaction in Axminster, with Ric hoping that residents will show their support for the independent business, saying the previous closure was an example of the 'use it or lose it' message.

Ric is currently working in the restaurant by himself so the menu has been simplified, serving homemade sandwiches, baguettes and light dishes for breakfast and lunch.

There is still a nod to Ric's favourite Mediterranean cuisine with his popular Spanish tortilla remaining on the menu, alongside dishes suited to the local clientele.

A barista-style coffee machine has returned to the restaurant, offering a full selection of hot drinks, served alongside homemade cakes and pastries.

Coffee and cake is currently available for £4.50.

The menu also includes gluten free, vegetarian and vegan options, and all food is now available to either eat in or takeaway. Large orders can also be pre-ordered the day before and collected.

Ric's Kitchen is now open Monday to Friday, 10am to 2.30pm with food served throughout.
