Volunteers from the Axminster Memory Café have made and delivered fun Christmas hampers to members who have missed meeting this year.
The Memory Café supports those suffering from dementia and memory loss and their families and carers, and 15 hampers were made with items including a photo memory calendar and word searches to keep the mind active, as well as homemade biscuits, fudge and jam.
The café is a safe place to socialise, get support and enjoy time together. It usually meets bi-monthly on the second and fourth Monday of each month at the Pippins Community Centre in Axminster but, due to COVID-19 restrictions, has not been able to meet since March.
Usual activities include informative talks, crafts, socialising, and listening to the always popular ukulele band from Sidmouth.
Community dementia matron Shiobhan and matron's assistant Mary have been keeping in contact with members during the year, dropping round jigsaw puzzles to keep them occupied and checking they are okay.
Knowing that there will be a lot of the members struggling and missing the interaction and fun, it was decided to make a Christmas hamper for each of them.
Two of the volunteers, Jeanette and Sharon, made and delivered the hampers.
