The PM's confidence vote and Tory candidate Helen Hurford

Boris Johnson faced a confidence vote in his leadership last week on 6 June, which he won by 211 votes to 148.

Tory by-election candidate Helen Hurford came out in support of the PM, saying 'There's been a democratic vote, he has had a third mandate now, let's move forward.'

In response, Carla Jane Salisbury said on Facebook: "Yes! [I agree with Helen Hurford backing Johnson]."

And Andre Duke said: "She's got my vote."

Meanwhile, Ruth Davenport said: "No. Johnson has lied over and over again, including to the Queen. If this candidate supports that then I can't trust her either."

Sarah Perris added: "Backs him AFTER the result was known … and won't say how she would have voted- typical slippery Tory."

Ms Hurford has also turned down the help of former MP Neil Parish, who resigned after admitting to watching pornography in the House of Commons.

Former Mayor of Honiton John Zarczynski said: "Mr Parish was a hard working MP despite what happened. From what I hear if he decided to stand as an independent he would probably get elected."

Meanwhile, a Twitter user simply replied with the hashtag '#CorruptToriesOut'.

Lib Dem candidate Richard Foord

Lib Dem candidate Richard Foord hit back at Helen Hurford after she claimed that he would 'cause disruption' in Westminster.

Michelle Pollington said on Twitter: "Such a shame. Typical Tory response. Try and bad mouth the opposition rather than focus on actual facts."

Richard Foord also spoke to Nub News about how he became emotional talking about poverty in Honiton.

In response, Peter Hill said on Facebook that it was a 'bit rich when it was the cuts imposed by the Lib Dem austerity coalition with the Tories from 2010 to 2015 that started the rot', and encouraged voting for Labour instead.

Too many flyers

One issue that keeps cropping up for some is having too many election leaflets in the post.

Fiona Broadbent said on Facebook: "I have no issue getting leaflets stuffed in the letterbox, but just one from each party please not 3 or 4."

Cathryn McCollum added: "Please stop putting leaflets through my door. SAVE THE TREES. STOP KNOCKING ON MY FRONT DOOR. It's very annoying."
