The Flamingo Pool in Axminster will be reopening in full on Saturday, March 11 following emergency repair work.

When the pool was closed for the Christmas break, a major structural fault was discovered in the main pool, meaning it has not yet been able to reopen for 2023.

A local contractor was appointed to install new supports around the main pool.

Work is now nearing completion and the main pool is scheduled to reopen this weekend on Saturday, March 11, with swimming lessons starting up again on Monday, March 13.

A spokesperson for the Flamingo Pool said: "Thank you all so much for your support whilst we've been closed, we are looking forward to welcoming you back."

It is understood that the emergency repair work has cost in the region of £17,000, which will have come as a blow to the charity-led swimming pool, which recently launched a £250,000 fundraising appeal to secure the future of the facility, through the installation of renewable and sustainable energy sources and improvements so that the pool can be run efficiently, economically and with less pollution to the environment.
