Axminster crew attend kitchen fire in Chard

Crews from Axminster and Chard were called to a domestic property fire in Springmead, Chard, on Thursday night.

Crews were called at 11.27pm and, on arrival, confirmed the kitchen was well alight and got to work extinguishing the fire.

There was 30% fire damage to the kitchen and 20% smoke damage to the remainder of the property.

Crews extinguished the fire using four breathing apparatus, one hose reel jet, one covering jet, one safety jet, one thermal imaging camera, carbon monoxide detector and a triple extension ladder.

The cause of the fire was accidental.
