AXMINSTER: Community picnic benches could be returning to Minister Green

The Action in Axminster group and Totally Locally are hoping to reinstate picnic benches on the Minster Green this summer.

Picnic benches were placed on the green for takeaway customers of the Community Waffle House amid COVID-19 restrictions last year.

Now, it is hoped that benches will be reinstated for use of the whole community – for customers of other local businesses or to just sit and chat.

The initiative is being organised by the new Action in Axminster group, made up of volunteers and councillors with the aim of making 'quick fix' improvements to the town, and Totally Locally Axminster.

Totally Locally has now brought together the necessary funding, but now needs to secure the permission of the Axminster Parochial Church Council, who in turn would like to know what the community thinks so residents are being asked if they would support the initiative.
