Charity Togs in South Street, Axminster, was broken into during the early hours of Saturday morning.

Money and goods from the shop were stolen and a considerable mess was made.

The alarm was raised when the intruders were heard inside the building by a member of the public nearby.

The police were called and two suspects were apprehended. This has since resulted in one male being charged with burglary and the illicit haul being recovered in full.

The shop raises funds for Axminster Care Service, which was established more than 30 years ago.

During this time ACS has re-distributed funds raised at the shop to those in need within the community, along with supporting other charities in the town during their early stages or difficult times, to the tune of many thousands of pounds.

During the COVID-19 lockdown Axminster Care Service has facilitated the phone lines for ACER along with delivering prescriptions to those in isolation.
