Axminster Chamber Choir will celebrate the 450th anniversaries of four great English composers at a concert in the Minster Church on Sunday, December 4.

The choir, which specialises in early music, has been preparing for the charity concert at rehearsals since September, and is looking forward to performing this wonderful music.

"Whilst it is true that the music of the 16th century composers Thomas Tomkins, Robert Parsons, Christopher Tye and Martin Peerson is not well-known outside choral music circles, it is all beautiful music which deserves to be heard," said Peter Parshall, Axminster Chamber Choir's director.

"All four of these composers have significant anniversaries this year, and because of the type of music we sing, it seemed appropriate to mark them."

The choir will be directed by Mr Parshall, with Peter Lea-Cox as accompanist.

Entry to the concert, which begins at 7pm and will last for about an hour, is free with a retiring collection. Proceeds will be divided between Axminster Foodbank and ARC, a local charity which provides easily accessible, flexible, local counselling and psychotherapy at the heart of the community.
