Every week we'll be shining the spotlight on one of the local businesses from Axminster Nub News' business directory. Supporting local, independent businesses is one of the core values of Nub News and we aim to promote the 'shop local' message.

If you want to join our business directory for free, simply visit our Local Business page and click the black 'Nub It' button to submit your own business details.

This week we're focussing on Not Just Veg which is run by Amanda Hoden, well known to shoppers in Axminster from her days at Macsorsons, the Halff Shop (now Project Food) and others.

Amanda's shop in South Street sells organic and local fruit and vegetables and much more including organic milk, cream and yoghurt, organic bread to order plus jams, jellies, marmalade, chutneys, local honey, eggs, and homemade soups.

"I started the shop in 2020 after being told I was being made redundant," says Amanda. "As my mother was ill, I had to find something to do in Axminster. After a discussion with my family, the shop was set up in a month.

"I am very proud of what I have achieved at a very difficult time, and am looking forward to the future and to the continuing support of my fantastic customers in the town. Many retailers have also been so helpful. I look forward to serving both existing and new customers."

Not Just Veg are now a silver award winning retailer awarded by Food Drink Devon.

Amanda brings great produce and goods to Axminster, with a great shop to get your quality fruit/veg and so much more.
