County chairwoman Yasmin Gibbons visited Axminster last week to present the Crediton Cup and certificate to the Axminster branch of the Royal British Legion, awarded for promoting the aims and objectives of one of the country's most popular charities.

The cup is in the safe hands of vice-chairwoman, Jo Ashkettle, and the framed certificate is to be displayed on the walls of the Waffle House, Axminster's community cafe.

After the presentation members enjoyed trying the hand at skittles in preparation with a friendly match against the Lyme Regis branch.

After celebrating their 100th anniversary the Axminster branch was in danger of closing due to a declining membership, but following the appointment of a new chairman, Mr Peter Simon, they are now enjoying a resurge in interest with regular events highlighting the role of the Legion.
