Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support have hailed their recent art exhibition a great success.

Nine local artists displayed and sold artwork during a two-day exhibition held at Uplyme Village Hall, raising more than £1,600 for Axminster and Lyme Cancer Support.

The art show started with a packed launch event on the Friday, with the evening viewing attracting more than 90 attendees and filling the hall.

The artists exhibiting at this year's show included Anne Townsend, Alban Connell, Alison Boskill, Liz Biles, Jools Woodhouse, Christine Allison, Jeanne Coates and Maggie Stead.

Artwork by Dot Wood, who died earlier this year, was also included and presented with the kind permission of her husband, Ian.

"We are delighted that our local and talented artists came together to support us with this event, the first of its kind for our charity", said Mary Kahn, managing director of the charity.

"We would like to thank all the artists who submitted their works and contributed to making this art show possible, as well as all our volunteers who helped to make this event possible. We also wish to thank Castlewood Vineyard for their support.

"We are already starting to plan ahead and look forward to next year's event.

"We support anyone affected by any cancer in our area and this will help us to continue to provide needed help and care to many in our community."

If anyone wants to access support or contribute directly, they can find many of the details of services offered and how to contact the charity on its website www.axminsterandlymecancersupport.co.uk
