In this very difficult and trying time for all, volunteers are working hard to to keep Axminster's Flamingo Pool open and with the help and support of the town they are confident they can achieve this goal.

Without a dedicated management team, the safe re-opening of the pool would not have been possible. They have worked long and hard, under extremely difficult circumstances, and the pool team thanks them for their unstinted efforts.

A spokesperson said: "We would like to thank everyone who has contributed so generously through the crowdfunding site.

"This has been a lifeline, although we are not out of the woods yet. With the community's goodwill behind us, we will do our very best to keep the pool open.

"If you would like to make a donation full details are available on our website along with information on COVID-19 restrictions and time tables. If in doubt please ring reception on 01297 35800."

The Flamingo Pool's fifth charity golf day took place recently at Lyme Regis Golf Club, and despite the COVID restrictions, it was extremely successful day with a full field enjoying glorious sunshine raising £1,472.

The winners of the competition were Roger Turner, Ray Shinners and Keith Gibson.

The spokesperson added: "The event was sponsored by Bridec of Bridport and we thank them for their generosity. We also thank Lyme Regis Golf club for hosting the event.

"We are constantly looking for new members to join the committee. If you are interested please contact pool manager Steve Buxton on 01297 35800."
