Axminster Care Service has donated £500 to the town's Community Shed.

A cheque was presented last week, with the donation planned to go towards the group's transition from electric to portable tools.

This will help members create a much safer working environment, particularly for those users with impairments, disabilities and dementia.

Axminster Community Shed, based in Chard Street, is a place where men and women can chat, connect and create. The initiative is popular across the UK, providing the opportunity to meet like-minded people, make new friends while also learning and using skills to help your community.

As well as donating funds to community groups, Axminster Care Service supports individuals or families who find themselves in financial crisis.

The charity has funded a variety of items for families over the years, including cookers, beds, mattresses, and a number of medical and care items to support those struggling with illness, impairment, or disability at home.

For anyone who would like to find out how to apply for funding, contact the secretary by emailing [email protected], or phone the office and leave a message on 01297 25550.
